CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


All classes are 60 minutes long. Depending on weather, classes may be warm, heated, or hot. Please see each class description for further details and specifications.


Rise & Shine Sun Salutations

Rise & Shine Yoga is a truly beautiful way to start your day!
This class flows you through nourishing movement sequences based around sun salutations.

All levels, all bodies, everyone is welcome. Please bring your own beach yoga blanket, water, and sign-up on Mind-Body. Only 20 spaces per class help teacher's to avoid straining their voice.

If class is full, you are still welcome to join, simply be aware that due to unpredictable elements all cues may not be completely audible to you.

Donations suggested & encouraged! Cash is easiest, though some instructors have venmo/paypal/zelle.

On the beach, Access 5 on Siesta Key (this IS a location, you can put it into your map app) weather permitting, dharma based.

Meet at public Access Point 5 off Ocean Blvd, at the bench by the start of the path to beach!

Instructors do their best to arrive 5-10 minutes before class, but due to seasonal traffic patterns, may not arrive until 3-5 minutes before class is set to start. Thank you for your patience!

 

Power Vinyasa

Power Vinyasa Yoga connects you to each and every muscle fiber in your body through powerful, creative, and energetic asana sequences. Vinyasa (chaturanga, updog, down dog) fluidly connects sequences, and you will quickly find yourself rooted firmly in body awareness as sweat drips from your fingertips.

Taught in a heated space, this practice will leave you spent but revitalized, and melt away the stress and tension stored in your body and mind. 

As in all styles of yoga, breath and movement are also intimately connected. 

Additionally, here at Studio Yooga you will savor the longer savasana we provide after your Power class, so that you can fully integrate the benefits of this invigorating practice style. 

Vinyasa Flow

Fluid, graceful, and nourishing movements are the foundation of Vinyasa Flow at Studio Yooga. You will be guided into each movement gracefully, and encouraged to focus on a deeper breath.

Longer holds in poses allow you to build strength, increase mobility, and improve your core without significantly raising your heart rate.

Slow and steady asana flows bring you into a state of communion with your body, and you feel stress melting away with each exhale. Moving into the work phase more slowly, with a longer cool down phase, this class is the perfect way to end your workday, or begin your evening of play. Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga offers benefits for everyone, all levels, all practice style. There are few, if any standing postures in this class.

Improving your spinal alignment, core strength, balance, and mobility is the central focus of this class.

This class is a place to tune inward, re-harmonize, and slow down so that you leave with a deeper sense of ease and a wonderfully increased level of inner harmony.

Slow Flow

Perfect for new yogis, gym addicts, and yogis that haven’t been to the mat in a while or are looking for a more alignment focused, nourishing yoga experience.

This flow is taught in a warm room, and allows your body & flexibility to open naturally at the best pace for you that day.

A blend of Hatha, Vinyasa, and Restorative postures leave you feeling balanced, opened, clear, and deeply relaxed. Helps improve flexibility, give love to muscles that lift a lot of weight, and bring a sense of inner calmness to the busy mind. 

 

Restorative Yoga with Singing Bowls

The heart of restorative yoga is to relax as deeply as possible into each posture, with the most minimal physical effort, if any, and to stay in each posture for long periods of time, but with ever increasing comfort. To achieve this, multiple props--such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and yoga straps--are utilized with each shape. 

Breath work is foundational to this style of yoga. Because you will be letting go of physical effort as much as possible, your focus is then directed inward, towards nourishing your body with breath, slowing down your mind, and shifting into the yoga-nidra space. 

This style of yoga is known to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system by beautifully slowing down your heart rate, regulating blood pressure, and relaxing your body in powerful ways, as well as boosting your immune system and supporting your body’s natural healing process.

Restorative yoga has its roots in the yoga of B.K.S. Iyengar, who developed a yoga that allows students to practice without any strain or pain. This was developed into a whole style of yoga which was considered ideal for those recovering from injuries or illnesses. Restorative yoga is considered particularly beneficial for those suffering from anxiety, insomnia or headaches, as well as other stress-related conditions.

At Studio Yooga we put the cherry on top of Restorative Yoga by integrating sound healing via crystal singing bowls during much of your practice. The bowls are played extra gently during class to deeply soothe you and bathe your subtle energy body in healing vibrations. 

You will leave completely blissed out, cloud nine.

 

Warm Yin

Yin yoga, on the surface, seems incredibly simple. Each practice is only composed of 5-6 postures at most. However, the intimate awareness of your body that you will discover through your yin practices requires a fair amount of endurance and focus, which in our incredibly busy Western world, is not always so simple. This is because each posture is held for long periods of time, but unlike restorative yoga, without any props.

Through the world of yin you will unlock many hidden treasures. It is one of the most difficult yet rewarding styles of yoga in that it is even more effective than vinyasa to increase your flexibility and mobility. 

Yin yoga also nourishes your nervous system much more powerfully than vinyasa yoga, with physical, mental, and nervous system benefits that last much, much longer. It promotes better sleep, greater harmony in all aspects of your life, and, with regular consistent practice, builds your concentration and focus in amazing ways.
