STUDIO YOOGA TEACHING TEAM
Kathy was born and raised in Virginia and has been a school teacher and avid traveler for most of her adult life. At 25 she took the leap and moved to Thailand to live for several years. This is where her love of yoga and her dedication to her own practice began to fully develop. There she was able to travel around South East Asia finding teachers to study under and build a deeper understanding of what yoga means to her.
As a somewhat new resident to Sarasota, Kathy is incredibly excited to share her love of yoga with the community.
Light, energetic, and nurturing are the feelings you will cultivate in one of Kathy’s Vinyasa and Gentle flows at the studio. Her warm and welcoming presence will help to ground you into the moment and take the buzzing yoga feels from your mat and out into your day!
Creative, nourishing and aligning flow is what you will experience in Lauren’s Vinyasa Flow classes. She quickly and seamlessly grounds you into your body, connects you to your breath, and gives you the confidence to move through your practice at the right pace for you. You will leave her classes feeling peaceful but energized, and joyful in your body.
Lauren Nevius ia a certified RYT 250 originally from Philadelphia, PA. She began her yoga journey in 2011, after taking her first yoga class. “I loved every moment of it, and quickly decided I wanted to take the next step and become a yoga instructor myself, so I could share the transformation of yoga with others. It was and still is the best decision I’ve ever made.” She dedicated herself to studying Functional Anatomy and Physiology & Classical Yoga Philosophy, at Yogalife Institute in Wayne, P.A. Lauren continues her education so as to empower her teaching practice, going to seminars and workshops regularly to expose herself to different techniques she can integrate to the benefit of her students. She is adept in multiple styles of yoga including prenatal yoga, restorative intermediate and vinyasa and the yoga lifestyle. After receiving her certification Lauren decided to make a big move to Florida to continue her journey. She has been teaching since 2016. “Since beginning my yoga journey I have never felt so connected to my body, my mind on and off the mat and love sharing and encouraging yoga to all as well as learning from my students. I will continue to further my education in different levels of yoga. Namaste!”
Lesa was born and raised in sunny Sarasota. She has been a musician for most of her life, as well as a creative writer, and graduated college as a filmmaker. However, yoga has always been a major part of Lesa’s journey both physically & mentally. She felt drawn to share the practice in 2018 & after completing her 200 teacher training she began teaching full time in Sarasota, Florida. In her own words: “I am passionate about showing up authentically and honoring where you are in your practice every time you walk onto the mat.”
Expect to be elevated into a beautiful energy as Cher guides you through your flow. She brings so much knowledge to the mat, and through her truly special light invites you to open your heart while sinking more deeply into your practice. She brings you back to center from the moment you lay on your mat, lovingly reminding you to strengthen your connection to breath. Her approach to movement is flowy, steady, and very much aligning. You will feel at peace, joyful, and excited to get back to your day when you leave her class.
Cheridan Smith is a lover of yoga, poetry, travel, sunsets and life. Cher received her Yoga Teacher training certification in India over the summer of 2018. She received her Aerial Yoga Teacher training certification in December of 2018. She began with aerial yoga and now focuses on hatha, yin, and vinyasa flow. This experience has made her passion and understanding of yoga extremely vivid. Having received the training in India, Cher feels more connected to the natural source and more at peace in her mind, body, and soul.
Rumi once said, “Let yourself become living poetry.” There is no better description of what yoga is to me. Yoga is living poetry: in movement, in flow, in feelings, in connecting yourself to every breath. Yoga is an art that works with each human based on their own needs. It is a practice I do to heal, to focus, to love, to breathe, and to live each moment in the present. Let the things that help us grow and the things we love be the things we do.
